Dear Mr. (to whom it may concern)
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to submit my resume in applying for the boys varsity basketball coaching position at (The High School). (The High School) has had a very good basketball tradition during the past several years. With my passion and commitment to coach, maturity and background experiences, knowledge of the game, organizational and teaching skills, I am very well prepared to maintain and build on that basketball tradition at (The High School), if given the opportunity. During my younger years, I grew-up in a teacher/basketball coach's home (father) in the State of Indiana where there was only One-Class basketball competition. I was a three-year starter on the Castle High School teams, a school with an enrollment of approximately 1800 students in the upper four grades. My father was varsity coach with 17-years of coaching experience. This provided me a solid foundation to build my philosophy in teaching and coaching, since I had a steady diet discussing this profession on a daily basis. Presently, I've been coaching the seventh and eighth grade boys and girls basketball teams in New Castle. This is where I learned to become a very good coach and teacher of the basic fundamentals of the game of basketball. I have assisted in the development of several athletes who have taken their game to the high school and college level, helping them fulfill their dream. This is one way I measure my success as a basketball coach, by assisting the athletes in preparing for their future in athletics and for the game of life. Recently, I have developed a vision in regards to a basketball program that I would implement if given a chance to coach in a high school. I'm ready to meet with you to discuss your basketball program in depth, with hopes to fulfill your basketball coaching needs at (The High School). In addition to teaching and coaching, I will focus on training my athletes to achieve good grades and become good citizens too. They will be required to represent your high school in a professional manner. You will be proud of my team in appearance and conduct on and off the basketball court.
